Am I the sum of my memory.
Am I the sum of my memory? This question raises many questions in our minds. Like what is memory? Is our memory the past incident of our life? Is our Memory the bunch of only bad incidents or is our memory the bunch of only good incidents? And does memory make our character?
So according to me, memory is the sour and sweet phase of our life. Which teaches us the lesson of life. It is the experience that characterizes us. And impact most in building our personality. So rather than memory being an accurate video recording of our moment of life. It is a fragile situation in life. Which is fixed in our mind like a Markar in the book.
For instance, A child has grown up in an unrest and violent atmosphere. But when he has grown up he lives in a calm environment. There is a great possibility that some part of that unrest must have survived in their memory. His past incident is restored in his brain. Which remembers the child. What was he? What he had faced? And what should he do?
Some part of that unrest will be part of his personality and character. Like, He never feels disgusted about violence. He would get angry, violent, and unrest quickly. He gets less emotional. This means that our body is the sum of different parts of our body. Our morality, ethics, and values are the sum of our memories. So we are the sum of our memories.
But the discussion is not close here. A question arises if we are the sum of memory. Then we have bad memories as well as good memories. Good memories are good for us. But how do we deal with our bad memories? And this Is the question of most people. Because it fills us with guilt, anger, revenge, and sorrow.
So to deal with the bad memory. We have to blunt the sharpness of our memory. From new research, the scientist found that. How much we memorize that our memory will be sharpened. Memory is not gone with time. But it is replaced by other memories.
You have also observed that we easily replace good memories because we do not always remember them. So slowly the edge of the memories will get blunt. But when the term bad memories comes up. For instance, if I say how many birthday parties of yours. You can remember. Your answer: will we have one or two? Or even a recent one. But when I say how many funnels of your near one you have remember. You remember most of them. Or if I say how many rejections of yours. You can remember. You remember most of them.
Because first, when the thought of failure will come. You stop yourself and continuously start thinking about it. So the bad memory gets strengthened. And second in comparison to a good moment. We have fewer bad moments in our life. And that fragile situation of life is fixed in our minds.
So to deal with bad memories, first you have to move on in your life. And follow the formula “Just let’s go and move on”. And second, accept your fault, then learn from that, and never do it again. So one thing which you always remember is that you are a human being and a human is the idol of mistakes. So never hesitate to make a mistake. As long as you are morally right.
